Collection: Cassina
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: In-Touch supports creativity and satisfies the most challenging needs. Made of Tencel, one of the most environmentally friendly fibres currently on the market, obtained from easily renewable sources, thanks to a production process with low environmental impact from which we obtain soft, lightweight, and breathable yarns that are also biodegradable since cellulose derivatives.
Collection: Cassina
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: Starburst expand the possibilities of using Bollicosa lamp diffusers with new solutions, inspired by the astral bodies that illuminate the universe. Starburst is a 120 cm long linear ceiling pendant with black painted structures, available with a white etched and white marbled glass finish.
Collection: Philippe Starck
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: "A sophisticated and attractive collection of sofas, dignified and formal in its design, yet highly versatile and suited to any setting. Both stylish and unusual, classic yet assertive, the Privé collection consists of a number of elements, all upholstered in capitonné leather. Cassina has developed a state- of-the-art technique for attaching the leather buttons to achieve the tufted effect, for which it holds an international patent, and which guarantees the quality and durability of the upholstery. Designed to work well in both formal and informal settings, the components of the collection include the island sofa, whose generous proportions -- along with the two back- and arm-rests -- make it reminiscent of a bed. "
Collection: Patricia Urquiola
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: Its roots in the architectural tradition, the design of the Floe Insel sofa translates the principles of the module and of versatility into bold proportions, to create generous volumes, that are both inviting and convey a dynamic spirit. The constructional harmony of the Floe Insel sofa derives from the designer's in-depth exploration of the link between the volume and the softness of the cushions. Optimizing the relationship between the padding in these and the elasticated bands, flexibility and support become one. Each element incorporates an asymmetrical line, at an angle of 25 degrees from the horizontal, making it different and unique. The seats and backs, meanwhile, feature diagonal stitching that accentuates the sense of movement. The padded profile on the outer edges of the cushions and the armrests serve to reconfirm Cassina's mastery in executing the complex task of adapting linear stitching to an asymmetrical structure.
Collection: Jean Marie Massaud
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: In designing Auckland, Jean Marie Massaud undertakes a restatement, in a contemporary key, of the classic lounge chair, which serves to reconfirm the original looks and comfort of this timeless classic. The seat of this swivel chair, available in black or white with optional foot-rest, is characterised by the seat’s shell-shaped structure, left deliberately exposed to evoke the armour worn by Kendo fighters. The shell protects the upholstered parts of the chair and is linked to the four-spoked base by a cantilevered metal support. This unusual arrangement confers a very faint, yet pleasurable, oscillating movement. The chair is complemented by a head-rest adjustable to eight height-options.
Collection: Piero Lissoni
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: Piero Lissoni with S. Sook Kim. This system is marked by elegance, comfort and a wide range of combinations allowing for great flexibility. Its geometric and formal design reveals surprising warmth in its ease of use and perfect functionality, thanks to the many possible versions: from the traditional sofa, to corner arrangements for pleasant and private conversations among friends, to the chaise longue for moments of relaxation. Simple, clean and inviting volumes convey the ease with which they can co- exist with those who use them.
Collection: Ico Parisi
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: Designed by Ico Parisi in 1960 for Cassina, at that time “Figli di Amedeo Cassina”, the 875 is a welcoming and elegant armchair. The author’s typical experimentation has led to a project that is both classic and modern at the same time. Its proportions, with its large seat and comfortable armrests, outline its solemn profile, while the original arched steel supports in different finishes - to which its shell is bound - and the contrast of different ma-terials make it eclectic, innovative and functional in any room of the house. The structure of the armchair, initially padded with foam rubber cut into sharp edges, has now been re-issued with polyurethane foam padding to maintain its linear shape. Both the seat and backrest are upholstered in fabric from the Cassina collections, as are the removable cushions.
Collection: Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: A timeless style that has written its own chapter in design history, becoming an icon of global fame. Designed for ease of conversation, the armchair was exhibited at the Salon d’Automne [Autumn Salon] in Paris in 1929 as the archetype of the modern concept of furnishings, interpreted by its authors as “household equipment”. The separation between the metal structure and the cushions is consistent with the principles of Rationalism, just as the separation between the parts is based on an industrial approach to production, reminiscent of the architectural relationship between the loadbearing structure and the in-fill elements. These models are also available in an eco-friendly version that stays true to the original design. Thanks to the study conducted by Cassina LAB, a partnership between the Cassina Research and Development Center and the Poli.design consortium of the Politecnico University in Milan, the foam-fill parts, the padding in the cushions and the tubular structure are produced with sustainable materials and processes.
Collection: Erik Gunnar Asplund
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: The Göteborg chair is Erik Gunnar Asplund’s poetic interpretation of Rationalist ideas. The chair was commissioned for the extension of the Town Hall in Göteborg, Sweden, whose warm, wood-panelled rooms are evoked in its ashwood frame. The curved and slightly convex profile recalls Bauhaus designs. In this case, though, Asplund keeps the back and legs the same width. We also see an homage to the historic Thonet No. 14 chair, one of the early examples of industrially manufactured furniture.
Collection: Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: This version of the Fauteuil à dossier basculant debuted at the first French Union of Modern Artists exhibition in 1930 and demonstrated how the furniture, displayed the previous year at the Salon d’Automne [Autumn Salon], could be produced with a greater variety of upholstery options. In this case, a saddlery detail that in the 1930s had already inspired many high-fashion collections.
Collection: Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: A low-armed dining chair that is as comfortable as an armchair proper, elegantly extends an invitation to sit and relax; a brand-new slim-line version is also now available. The designers of Cotone and Cotone Slim took their cue from the great Cassina classics, and their skeleton frame that exemplifies the company's ability to produce highly expressive and exquisitely refined pieces year after year. The key to the design of Cotone is the strong contrast between the frame's rigorous, minimal line, which is made of aluminium with extruded profiles created exclusively for this piece, and the soft, welcoming look of the seat. The frame is available in a number of aluminium finishes, while the polyurethane padding is fitted with a soft and comfortable feather-quilted cover. The Cotone Slim, meantime, is supplied in leather or fabric, but without the feather-quilted cover.
Collection: Carlo Scarpa
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: An absolute masterpiece, this unparalleled model of formal beauty was the fruit of an epiphany on the part of Carlo Scarpa, the designer. The Orseolo table is constructed from sheets of MDF coated in a thick layer of mirror- shine or matte polyester lacquer; this is poured hot onto the wood surface and then brushed and polished using special machines. The linear panels are joined together with satin-finish cast aluminium fasteners, which serve a dual purpose. Both aesthetic and functional, they relieve the stress at the critical points of the table, and thus help preserve the beauty of the lacquer finish.
Collection: Mario Bellini
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: The bed designed by Mario Bellini is distinguished by the structure and legs covered in a warm and precious leather, which is enriched with the saddle stitching visible in the joints between each part. The slightly tapered and padded headboard, defined by central stitching, is upholstered in fine leather and hide, which is treated with a special tanning that makes it particularly soft and comfortable. The advanced workmanship of thick, full-bodied materials reveals Cassina’s experienced craftmanship and the exceptional mastery perfected from the creation of the Cab chair. The different leather parts, cut using a numerical control machine, are then manually processed to make this piece a true masterpiece of manufacture. The bed is available in the version with traditional headboard or fixed to the wall, ideal for contract furnishings.
Collection: Charlotte Perriand
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: The Doron Hotel armchair was designed in 1947 by Charlotte Perriand, a real mountain lover, for the winter sports resort of Méribel Les Allues and for Hôtel Doron, one of the first chalet-hotels, in the same location. The French designer always had a special and profound relationship with nature; in fact, she was one of the first to explore the relationship between man and his surrounding environment, seeking natural materials to use in her projects. Comfortable, textural and pleasant to the touch, the Doron Hotel armchair comes in the outdoor version as well. It can be paired with Charlotte Perriand’s Table à Plateau Interchangeable.
Collection: Charlotte Perriand
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: A coffee table in solid wood, extremely complex in terms of technology yet very simple in terms of design, this piece was created by Charlotte Perriand in 1969 for the Japanese embassy in Paris. The ideas for this table derives from the impact made on Perriand when she saw a colossal rock, whose enormous weight was undercut by the way the waves had eroded it, rendering it smooth. Thus the thick table-top and the concave edges, which enhance the beauty and serve to lighten the look. The contrast between the figurative impact and the rational perception of the real weight of the piece are what make it unique. Thanks to the meticulous manufacturing techniques employed, the table is able to withstand the risk of warping, which is the usual fate of wooden objects.
Collection: Philippe Starck
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: The Volage bed combines irony and lightness with a strong design, resulting with an original and rigorous piece. The bed frame is made of aluminum, upholstered in fabric or leather; the headboard - padded with CFC-free polyurethane foam - is characterized by precious capitonné workmanship in leather or fabric, developed and patented by the company at international level, and combined with thin feet in polished die-cast aluminum. The freedom of vision and interpretation is supported through the extensive range of options, including size options of the headboard: flush with the edge of the bed, it can be low (the same size as the bed or larger, and can also be fitted with reading lamps) or high (in large sizes, and can also be fitted with reading lamps). A bedside table and a bench complete the collection.
Collection: Vico Magistretti
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: An international best-seller with warm, inviting shapes, where the back extends upwards to form a head-rest. The smooth, padded style, meantime, amplifies the sofa’s comfort quotient, affording myriad interpretations. Much imitated, Maralunga introduced the idea of an adjustable-height head- rest, achieved by means of a bicycle chain embedded in the foam cushions. This avant-garde mechanism, patented by Cassina, makes the back cushion unfold and move upwards, to form a head-rest. In 2014, to celebrate Maralunga’s fortieth anniversary, Cassina undertook a further restyling, making **the fabric upholstery removable** for cleaning, while adding details such as the edge-stitching that confers a more contemporary look to a design classic. The Maralunga family includes an armchair, a foot-rest and two- or three-seater sofas in several widths.
Collection: Philippe Starck
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: A system for the living area that is both comfortable and functional, featuring a simple and relaxing style, designed to be both a haven of comfort and a place where one can be “always on”. A challenge that was both structural and aesthetic: to translate the needs and habits of a constantly evolving world where work and leisure-time are central experiences, requiring the pieces to have multiple functions and meanings. MyWorld is a unique and functional solution that can be customised to one’s personal requirements, whether private, social, or professional. Its independent spirit is composed of various elements that can be grouped together, four-square on the floor, and can be complemented by a range of accessories designed to enhance comfort and efficiency, as is demonstrated by the feather-filled upholstery, and the cabled version, as well as the screens to provide privacy when needed.
Collection: Piero Lissoni
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: A ground sofa, Miloe possesses a versatile and modular spirit, and is easy to shape into inviting configurations that are extremely comfortable, while being designed for both relaxation and conversation. Available in two depths, in either feather-filled or with polyester padding, Miloe adapts any setting, thanks to its ample and flexible footprint which, over the years, has been extended to accommodate a chaise longue as well as a number of highly flexible smaller units. The sensation of comfort and the design’s distinctive graphic profile are enhanced by the soft cushions in various colours and sizes, with optional gros-grain trims in four natural colourways. Upholstered in leather or with a fabric removable covers, this sofa is complemented by a series of low tables in oak, Canaletto walnut, or glass.
Collection: Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: An icon with an aptitude for versatility and functionality designed in 1927 by Charlotte Perriand for her Paris atelier in Place Saint-Sulpice. The design was first exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs [Decorative Artists Show] in 1928 and then at the Salon d'Automne [Autumn Salon] in 1929, and is now part of the Le Corbusier®, Pierre Jeanneret®, Charlotte Perriand® Collection. The swivel armchair features backrest and seat cushion padded in polyurethane foam and polyester batting, with leather or fabric upholstery. Since 2016, the armchair has undergone a major structural update that led to its being awarded Catas certifications.
Collection: Charlotte Perriand
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: With the Ombra Tokyo chair, Charlotte Perriand came up with an iconic piece with great visual appeal and exquisite refinement, conjured from a single sheet of oak plywood, cut, folded and curved to evoke the Japanese origami tradition. This chair was first shown in 1953, its slim-line seat being an absolute first. Stackable, light, and functional, the Ombra Tokyo chair is the perfect synthesis of gesture, form, and technology, expressing to perfection Perriand’s design ethos. The constructional techniques applied by Cassina shapes the material in full respect of the original design, and its timeless personality.
Collection: Patricia Urquiola
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: The Sestiere vases combine the ancient artisan Murano glass-blowing techniques with contemporary design ‒ a blown glass ball that is enveloped, almost harnessed, by the net-like ‘morise’ cords, decorated with the typical striped motif of the lagoon. The traditional vivid colours interact with a clean, sharp design for a boldly graphic appearance.
Collection: Cassina
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: Electra is inspired by the old coils from the first power stations and the old science fiction films that confided in the progress and technology of the future.
Collection: Charlotte Perriand
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: Charlotte Perriand started work on the tables en forme libre in 1938. Originally intended for her own atelier in the Montparnasse area of central Paris, they went into production courtesy of Galerie Steph Simon at the end of the 1950s. All rounded edges, and asymmetrical lines, these tables are perfectly suited to accommodating up to eight guests in small spaces. The table has three legs: one is oval with a wider footprint, the other two are smaller and are cylinder-shaped. In 2011, Cassina re-issued this piece, reducing the width of the legs to offer more space and allow guests to sit closer to each other on convivial occasions. Supplied in mahogany solid wood, the table also comes with a gloss or matte varnished finish, in the Cassina Moodboard colours. The table-top is composed of wooden staves that slot into each other, the joins being seen at the ends, testifying to the Cassina company’s exceptional carpentry skills; any variations in the wood are part of the very nature of the raw material and serve to highlight its inherent beauty.
Collection: Charlotte Perriand
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: Starting in 1928, Charlotte Perriand designed a series of free-form tables for her studio in Montparnasse. With no sharp corners, the rounded and asymmetrical shapes communicate a pioneering elegance and the need for a design that does not dictate to the users but allows them the freedom to negotiate its shape at will. Innovative for the year of its debut in 1952, this “free-form desk”, re-edited by Cassina, conveys its timeless elegance through soft shapes and the warmth of the wood.
Collection: Marcel Breuer
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: Delfi forms part of the Ultrarazionale collection, which was launched in 1968, and is composed of sculptural pieces designed by Carlo Scarpa, typified by his signature attention to detail and choice of materials. This table is a re- design of a Rationalist model created by Marcel Breuer in the 1930s for Dino Gavina’s residence in Bologna. At the end of the 1960s, Scarpa began to re- examine the original concept, effecting some variations, in agreement with the designer. In 2009, Tobia Scarpa, Carlo Scarpa’s son, suggested yet another variation: this time, a glass table-top so as to highlight the elegant brass supports and the fluting on the marble bases, the better to see the formal elegance of the piece.
Collection: Charles Rennie Mackintosh
Brand: Cassina
Specifications: An extendable table, exemplifying the perfect balance between classic and contemporary, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1905. The unique nature of this natural cherrywood table lies in the mechanism under the table-top that allows the table to be extended, this thanks to the small board located in the middle of the longest side of the top. When the upper table-top is lifted, one or both of the extensions can be added to the table.
